National Mall and Memorial Parks is looking for Volunteers to help with Independence Day Activities
There are three ways to get involved!!!
1.Help promote sustainability by encouraging high volumes of visitors to recycle during the annual Independence Day Celebration! Volunteers will collect recyclables, ensure they are deposited in the correct area, answer questions, and distribute information in an effort to educate the public and keep the Mall clean during this high traffic event.
Time: 4:30 - 9:00 PM.
Volunteers will receive t-shirts, water, and are invited to stay for the fireworks show at 9:00!
2. Help the park clean up after the festivities on Friday July 5. The grounds of the Washington Monument sees large numbers of visitors on Independence Day and we need help getting the park back into tip top shape.
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
3. The spectacular Independence Day fireworks show makes quite the mess on the National Mall. Interested in assisting with the pick-up and removal of the fireworks debris left in the park?
We will be picking up the small pieces of cardboard that fall to the ground after the shell explodes in the air, and we don’t want any of our friendly wildlife to feed on these pieces. Please join us as we will have a lot of ground to cover!
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on the following days: Saturday, July 6th, Sunday, July 7th, Monday, July 8th. You need only volunteer one day.
Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Email or by phone (202) 245-4688 if you are interested in this great opportunity to give back and make a difference!
