The National Park Service STRONGLY RECOMMENDS that you use public transportation to arrive in Washington, D.C. Parking will be extremely limited and various road closures will be implemented throughout the day. Be prepared to walk to most locations, as congestion likely will occur due to large crowds trying to move through security barriers.
Arriving by car
If you choose to drive, limited parking is available on Hains Point accessible via I-395 or Maine Avenue from the East only. Vehicles will not be allowed on or around the National Mall. Check and obey all signs for parking regulations.

Vehicles will not be allowed on or near the National Mall. If you are driving, we suggest that you park at an outlying Metro station and take the Metro into the park.
