National Mall Independence Day Celebration
Things to Do

Independence Day is a very busy time of year within the Nation's Capital. Numerous activities lead up to the day of the event. Please use the above links to plan your visit.

Please Remember To Recycle

Visitors will find temporary recycling containers at the following locations:

  * U.S. Capitol grounds for the A Capitol Fourth Concert
  * Lincoln Memorial
  * Thomas Jefferson Memorial
  * Washington Monument grounds

Also, please look for the permanent recycling containers along the Mall Area between 14th and 3rd Streets. These containers exhibit a blue recycling band around their circumference.

Park Volunteers will collect the recyclables throughout the day and from along the parade route.

National Mall and Memorial Parks asks for everyone's assistance in our recycling efforts:

  * Please use the recycling containers only for recyclable items such as plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and glass bottles
  * Please be sure to empty all fluids before placing recyclable items into recycling containers

Please refrain from depositing paper items, thin plastic bags or wrap, aluminum foil, diapers, milky white plastic containers, or heavy black plastic containers into recycling containers
