Heat Safety Advisory
Visitors are strongly encouraged to bring plenty of water and snacks or food when attending Independence Day festivities. The temperature will be extremely hot, and prolonged exposure to the sun and heat can quickly lead to dehydration or heat-related illness. Wear sunscreen and light clothing, and take frequent breaks in the shade. Watch out for members of your group, and look for signs like dizziness, nausea, or feeling unusually tired. NPS Rangers are prepared to help, but the best protection is prevention. With a few simple steps, you can stay safe and enjoy all of the historic 250th birthday celebrations in DC.
