Kendall Gott is a military historian for the Combat Studies Institute at the US Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth Kansas. He is the author of several articles and studies on American military history, including "In Glory's Shadow: The 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment During the Persian Gulf War, 1990-1991."

His 2003 history of this campaign, "Where the South Lost the War: An Analysis of the Fort Henry-Fort Donelson Campaign, February 1862" is one of the standard histories of it.

Mr. Gott will be returning to Fort Donelson National Battlefield to share his unique insights into the campaign. He will offer a discussion about his book and the campaign at  6:00 PM in the park's visitor center.
