Saturday's Civil War Singers Concert Relocated Because of Heat
This Saturday's Civil War Singers concert, originally scheduled for the River Batteries, has been moved to the park's visitor center, still scheduled for 6:00 PM. High temperatures are expected for the next few days in this area.
A living history camp featuring the 9th Kentucky Infantry (USA) will be held at Fort Donelson.
Historic weapon demonstrations will be offered periodically throughout the day. A schedule for this will be posted in the park visitor center.
A good weekend for Junior Rangers to come and learn about the park and its resources!
From the 9th Ky's website:
"We are a Civil War Reenactment Group based in Kentucky and Tennessee that portrays the 9th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry (US).
We are available for School Programs, Living Histories, Parades, Re-enactments, Films or any thing which promotes a positive image of the average Civil War soldier.
We invite and encourage all to join our group and learn and enjoy history. Come and experience the life of an average soldier in the War Between the States. We are dedicated to preserving the memories of those brave men by honorably portraying them. We will assist you with information on these units and the War Between the States. Our members will help you obtain the proper equipment and training. You will learn more about the Civil War history once you have worn the wool and smelled the smoke."
