Fort Donelson Status March 7 2014
The park's visitor center is open today, March 7, 2014. The main tour road, for stops #1-6, is closed, as is stop #7. The Dover Hotel is open. Park staff is working on removing ice and snow. Many local roads, especially back roads, are still treacherous.

Special "Water Education for Teachers" Workshop on June 12, 2012. (Rescheduled from November, 2011)
9:00AM-3:00 PM, at the Stewart County Visitor Center along Highway 79 in Dover, Tennessee. Workshop will include hands on and engaging activities to reinforce the unique water resources of the state. Open to all educators, park rangers, nature center and museum staff, and teachers in training! Six hours of in-service credit earned.Click here for more details and registration information.
Did You Know?
There was a significant enslaved population in Stewart County, TN, before and during the 1862 battle. After the Union victories at Forts Heiman, Henry and Donelson, many freedom seeking slaves sought refuge at these forts, even establishing a community near today's Fort Donelson National Cemetery.
