The River Runs Through It - An exploration of the river gun batteries, river history & geography, & an activity to learn about the Union gunboats. – 4-8th grades.

Park Staff

St. Mary's Students participate in From Slavery To Freedom program

Guided History Walk – Students, teachers, & chaperones get an in-depth study of park historical features. Student participation is required. Comfortable shoes are suggested for the one-mile walk. Reservations required; ranger or volunteer walks are approximately 45 minutes in length, weather permitting. Limit 35 students.

Living Map Program – Students become the instructors for this 45-minute program, using historical props, maps, and eyewitness accounts from the 1862 battle. Limit 35 students.

History-Nature Hunt – A special program that blends Civil War history with an appreciation of the natural environment. Students will learn how the National Park Service protects special places. Approximately 45 minutes – 1 hour.  Some walking required.
