August 30, 2014 We will celebrate our new museum and "Old Fort Day" with Camels, Cavalry & Cannons!

10:30 AM - Flag raising and morning gun firing
11:00 AM - Grand opening ceremony and Alpine band concert
1:30 PM - Victorian Fashon Show
2:15 PM - Small Arms Demonstration
2:45 PM - 1880s Rules Baeball Game
3:30 PM - Cavalry Drill
4:45 PM - Flag lowering and evening gun firing

11:30 AM - 4:30 PM - Special living history activities, over 50 volunteers reenacting life of the 1800s!!

Did You Know?

First Fort Davis painting by Auther Lee.

Assistant Surgeon Albert J. Myer, who served at Fort Davis in 1855, developed a new military signaling system. Myer was promoted to major in 1860 and appointed Chief Signal Officer of the U.S. Army. He is known as the Father of the Signal Corps.
