An Evening with Richard Louv

Friday, October 3, 2008 at 7:00 pm

Don't miss this opportunity to hear Richard Louv, award winning author of Last Child in the Woods, and recipient of the 2008 Audubon Medal, at the Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs, CO on Friday, October 3rd at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for exhibits. A book signing will begin at 8:20 p.m.

Florissant Fossil Beds Junior Ranger Day

Saturday, October 4, 2008 from 10 - 4.

All children who participate in the day's activities will receive a Junior Ranger Booklet, badge, and patch. The first 150 children to sign-in will receive a free t-shirt designed especially for the event. Children will have the opportunity to personalize the t-shirt with their own handprint.

On Sunday, October 5, 2008, the Monument will be providing ranger-guided programs throughout the day.

Many parks and nature centers in the area will be hosting special events for kids and families. You can download the list of events.

Library Discussion Groups

Open to the public. Teachers may receive Adams State Graduate Credit and/or BOCES Continuing Education credits.

Florissant Library, Sept 22 - 4:30 p.m.

Other libraries in the Pikes Peak area will be hosting discussions. Check with your local library for dates and times.

Did You Know?
The massive petrified redwood stump known as the "Big Stump" is not actually the largest diamter stump at Florissant Fossil Beds. The "Big Stump" measures 38 feet in circumference, but the biggest stump is over 41 feet.
