Temporary Visitor Center / Trail Closures
The park is operating with a temporary visitor as it builds a new one. The park is OPEN with normal hours. Please bring your own water. Pit toilets are available for bathrooms. The Sawmill and Hans loop will have period closures. All other trails open.
Florissant Fossil Beds to Change Hours Fall 2010

On Tuesday, September 7th, 2010, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument will shift from its summer hours of operation to its winter hours which will be 9:00 AM -5:00 PM. These hours of operation will be in effect throughout the fall and winter months. Ranger guided programs will still continue on a limited schedule and mostly on the weekends. Ranger guided elk bugling programs begin mid-September on weekends. Please call ahead for times and reservations. Other activities within the park include the junior ranger program, the park's film, self-guided trails with exhibits and 14 miles of hiking trails. Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument provides excellent habitat for a variety of mammals including bears, mountain lions, porcupines, ground squirrels, and a small herd of elk.
