Petroglyph National Monument
National Park Service Presents Fire Program to
Boys & Girls Club

On June 24, the Boys & Girls Club of Pine Hill/Ramah, New Mexico welcomed National Park Ranger Lola Henio of Petroglyph National Monument, Vance Yazzie and crew from the Forestry Department, and “TK” Kelheyouma and John Brooks of the Volunteer Fire Department to the Pine Hill School Library to do presentations to Club members on fire prevention adn fire safety. The children heard some stories of recent fires due to careless campers and campfires. They were also taught important lessons such as, Stop, Drop & Roll, Good Fire, Bad Fire, and how to dial 911 to report a fire. The kids were excited to learn about fires because most have family members who are firefighters.

The Club members gave a big thank you to all the people who shared their knowledge about fire and gave them a spot on their Wall of Sponsors.
