Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site
2003 Rural Fire Assistance Program

Through the National Fire Plan, Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site received a $7000.00 Rural Fire Assistance Grant. The park worked with their community partner, Ganado Fire District, to purchase specific equipment needed by the District for their fire-fighting needs. Since the park has a Memorandum of Understanding with the District for mutual aid in the protection of structures and buildings and suppression of structural and wildland fires in the area adjacent to the park, it made sense to help supply the Ganado Fire District with needed equipment and field supplies for their profession. Hoses, wrenches, nozzles, reducers, a 2000 gallon tank, a floto-pump, gated wyes and mop-up kits were purchased from Cascade Fire Equipment Company under GSA contract. The materials were delivered to the park to verify orders and the District picked them up. The total amount spent was $6,917.00.
