    Fort Stanwix Signature Tour

For centuries, the Oneida Carrying Place, a six mile portage connecting the Mohawk River to Wood Creek, served as a vital link for those traveling by water from New York City to the Great Lakes. Join a park ranger on this 45 minute program and learn about the bloody conflicts which ignited as nations fought for control of the carry, the homelands of the Six Nations Confederacy, and the rich resources of North America. Discover the treaties of Fort Stanwix which laid the ground work for the forcible realignment of native lands and the creation of the Indian reservation system - documents which have affected peoples across the continent for generations. Explore the reconstructed fort and step back in time to the 18th Century.

Ranger led programs begin twice daily at the Willett Center, at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Comfortable shoes and weather appropriate attire are recommended.
