Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park
Emancipation Proclamation Observance
The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will host an "Emancipation Proclamation 150th Anniversary Observance" to commemorate the issuance of the historical document. Children can participate in the newly developed "Park Quest" scavenger hunt, express their ideas about President Abraham Lincoln, freedom, and the Emancipation Proclamation by creating artwork and posters.
At 1:00 P.M. ET, Dr. Robert Dietle, Head of the History Department at Western Kentucky University will speak on President Lincoln and the effects of the Emancipation Proclamation.
At 2:00 P.M. ET, Mr. Jim Sayre will portray President Abraham Lincoln and discuss what led up to the issuance of the proclamation.
