Leaves are falling, pumpkins are ripening, and cool wind is blowing...it's time for Howling Homestead at Homestead National Monument of America! Join park rangers, volunteers, and special guest presenters for a night full of family fun on Saturday, October 25, 2014. Participants will travel through a series of festive stations from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Homestead Heritage Center.
This Howling Homestead will be an exciting one! The event will take you through entertaining and intriguing activities, like learning about bats, snakes, raptors and predators. Go on a prairie walk, make crafts, and see the mad scientist do exciting experiments. Listen to stories, hear music, and view the night sky through telescopes.
In honor of harvest season, the first hundred kids to arrive will get a free pumpkin! There will be hot apple cider and spooky cookies for everyone. Howling Homestead is funded in part by the Nebraska Humanities Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, the Friends of Homestead, and the Eastern National bookstore.
Many of the evening activities will be outdoors, so visitors are advised to dress for cool weather. The event is appropriate for all ages and we won't try to be scary. Please leave your costumes at home.
