It all began with the Mississippi River. Take an hour-long stroll along the Mississippi River levee for an overview of New Orleans history. Walk ends on the levee across from Jackson Square.
25 free tickets are distributed at 9:00 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis at the French Quarter Visitor Center, 419 Decatur Street, New Orleans. Each person wanting a ticket must pick up their own ticket. No reservations.
The visitor center is closed on federal holidays and on Mardi Gras (Tuesday, February 17, in 2015). Note that on Saturday, September 6, the usual riverfront history stroll will be replaced by a day of special programs; click here to learn more.
