Reservations for required permits must be obtained through Recreation.gov. Due to the breach at Old Inlet, access to both east and west wilderness camping zones must now be from Davis Park or access points west, and involve a 2½ to 10 mile hike. More »
Summer Twilight Trek
No Summer Trek in 2013 due to the Breach at Old Inlet!
The Summer Twilight Trek is a 9-hour, non-stop, 13-mile hike beginning at the Wilderness Visitor Center and ending at Cherry Grove. The Twilight Trek is open to anyone who can meet the physical demands of the program: walking thirteen miles in nine hours, walking long distances in loose sand and being exposed to the elements including the sun, wind and possibly rain. Registration is required as space is limited. Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
