Summer Twilight Trek

Fire Island Wilderness hike
The first 7 miles of the Fire Island Summer Twilight Trek take you past the 1380-acre Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness. With each mile you hike down the beach, you can expect to see fewer and fewer people until you reach Watch Hill.

Friday - June 29, 2012

The Summer Twilight Trek is a 9-hour, non-stop, 13-mile hike beginning at the Wilderness Visitor Center and ending at Cherry Grove. The Twilight Trek is open to anyone who can meet the physical demands of the program: walking thirteen miles in nine hours, walking long distances in loose sand and being exposed to the elements including the sun, wind and possibly rain. Registration is required as space is limited. Applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
