Backcountry Camping Permit and Access Procedures
Reservations for required permits must be obtained through www.recreation.gov. Due to the breach at Old Inlet, access to both east and west wilderness camping zones must now be from Watch Hill or points west, and involve a 1½ to 8 mile hike. More »

Meet in Field #5 at Robert Moses State Park for an escorted lantern light walk along the beach and through the swale as stationed interpreters unfold the stories of the United States Life Saving Service and Fire Island Light Station. Tours leave at 15 minute intervals.
Dress for the weather and bring a flashlight for your walk back to the parking field. The tower will remain open until 9 pm at regular fees. Sunset is at 6:08 pm and moonrise is 6:33 pm.More »
