      <description>The National Park Service (NPS) is currently accepting comments on an Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze a proposal to conduct a prescribed fire and associated ecosystem study within Death Valley National Park (Park). Fifty acres of pinyon pine forest with scattered sagebrush at the intersection of the Hunter Mountain Road and the Hunter Cabin Road in the Cottonwood Mountains is the planned location of the project.</description>

      <description>Beginning on Sunday June 16th, the Furnace Creek Visitor Center in Death Valley National Park will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., one hour later than the previous schedule.  This change will better serve the summer travelers who arrive later in the day or begin their activities early and seek indoor venues in the afternoon.  While summer brings extreme temperatures, this time of year also brings a high volume of European visitors.  The new schedule will allow park staff to be available later in the day to assist visitors.  The Visitor Center will return to winter hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) on October 7th.</description>

      <description>A fire broke out near historic Scotty&#8217;s Castle in Death Valley National Park on Tuesday, May 21st around 4 pm. As of Wednesday morning, about 26 acres of heavy brush had burned north of the Castle grounds. Firefighters from the region were called in to fight the blaze which at times was about 70 feet high.</description>

Scotty&#8217;s Castle is a Spanish style mansion built in the 1930s that hosts daily living history tours. The Castle is closed until water and power are restored to the area.</description>

She replaces former superintendent Sarah Craighead, who left in November to become superintendent at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky.</description>

The historic &#8220;Mission 66&#8221; style of architecture that dominated National Park Service facilities in the 1950s and 60s, including the Visitor Center and Museum, will show a refreshed interior with new interpretive exhibits. The building will be LEED certified with energy saving components built into the new design.</description>

      <description>The National Park Service (NPS) is currently accepting comments on an Environmental Assessment analyzing various proposals to rehabilitate 4.8 miles of the Emigrant Canyon Road, commonly referred to as Lower Wildrose Road, from milepost 20 to milepost 24.8 in Death Valley National Park (Park).  This section of Lower Wildrose Road has deteriorated over the years due to flash flooding and presents a hazard to vehicular travel in the Park.</description>
