Under the legislation, each agency's Director
decides how to use 20 percent of the fee revenues. The NPS Director
has distributed the funds to projects in non-collecting and low
revenue parks. The Director's choice for special emphasis.
- Since 1998, over $37.5 million in fee dollars has supported the Public Land Corps' work on the backlog of maintenance while giving young people an opportunity to learn and earn our national parks.
- Over the past three years, the Director has designated $15 million dollars to provide access to the full range of experiences available in our National Parks to the over 54 million Americans with disabilities.
- To commemorate the Bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition,
the Director created a traveling exhibit that over
four years followed the explorers route across the country.
- Over $75 million has been designated for repair and rehabilitation of facilities to improve the visitor's experience and to protect the natural and cultural resources.
