    Civil War Encampment

Many people associate Appomattox Court House with the end of the Civil War for good reason. This weekend's program though will take a look at Appomattox during the war and consider the men that left it to go fight. There were 4 companies raised in Appomattox during the war that all fought in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia. The Appomattox men fell on many battlefield and hospitals all over the eastern theater, but the year 1863 was particularly painful. Like many Southern communities, Appomattox was hit hard by the defeat at Gettysburg. These programs will feature the role that Appomattox soldiers played there and other battles during the war.
