Join us for one or more the series of activities that we have lined up for the 150th anniversary!

9:00am-5:00pm Yosemite, the Grand Experiment

Wander through the special exhibit honoring the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant Act. Yosemite Museum in Yosemite Valley.

 

10:00am Mariposa Grove Restoration Ceremony

Mariposa Grove – Lower Grove Parking Area (stay tuned for detailed parking instructions)

 

11:00am-3:30pm 150th Anniversary Shared Heritage Fair

Drop by the fair in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center at any time to explore some of the ways that Yosemite inspires the world.

10:00am  Grant Us a Forest for the Nation, 1 hr.

Stroll along with a DNC Naturalist to get to know some of the players who participated in Yosemite’s protection June 30, 1864.  Meet in front of the Yosemite Museum.

11:00am The Power of Protection: A Walk into History, 1 hr.

Join a Yosemite Conservancy naturalist-guide on an easy stroll to explore the stories of the people who initiated Yosemite’s protection and persevered. Meet in front of the Yosemite Museum.

 

11:00am Children’s Photography Walk, 1.5 hrs.

Plan to spend over an hour in the field with your kids and our Staff Photographer getting creative and having fun with photography. No age limit, but the child should be able to follow directions from an instructor for an hour and be able to operate their own camera. Limited space. Sign-up and meet at The Ansel Adams Gallery.

11:00am Photography Walk, 1.5 hrs.

Join us in the field with our Staff Photographer reviewing both technical aspects of photography and artistic composition. Limited space. Sign-up and meet at The Ansel Adams Gallery.

12:00pm Lower Yosemite Fall: Learn the History and Lend a Helping Hand, 1 hr.

Take a walk to Lower Yosemite Fall with Yosemite Conservancy naturalist-guide Dan Webster. Learn about the interesting natural and cultural history of the area while cleaning up this well used location. Meet in front of the Yosemite Museum.

 

1:00pm The Times they are a Changing: Plants, Fire and Humans in Yosemite’s Meadows, 1 hr.

Walk and explore the ways in which Yosemite Valley has changed in the past 150 years and meet the people who influenced these alterations with a Yosemite Conservancy naturalist-guide. Meet in front of the Yosemite Museum.

1:00pm Children’s Story Reading, 30 min.

Listen in on some Yosemite tales for the younger crowd. Main stage in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center.

1:00pm Stroll with Galen Clark, Yosemite’s First Guardian Ranger, 45 min.

Take a stroll with Galen Clark (Miles Standish) who was Yosemite’s first ranger appointed in 1866. Learn about his observations on managing Yosemite Valley during the era when it was a State Park and visit the Clark gravesite in the Yosemite Cemetery. Meet in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center.

 

1:00pm Using Your Digital Camera: Inspiring Generations with Photography, 4 hrs.

Sign-up meet at The Ansel Adams Gallery. Limited space and fee required.

3:00pm Yosemite Grant 150th Commemoration: Parks Heritage, 30 min.

A public celebration to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Yosemite Grant: Join National Park Service and California State Park officials as they talk about the shared heritage in Yosemite and how the park movement has spread worldwide. Main stage in front of the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center.

 

4:00pm 150 Years of Land Preservation, 1 hr.

Stroll along with a DNC Naturalist to discover how the Yosemite Grant influenced land protection around the globe.  Meet in front of the Yosemite Museum.
