The Mono Basin Historical Society celebrates the history of Lee Vining and the Tioga Road as the Eastern Gateway to Yosemite National Park, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the park. This event will include a series of lectures and exhibits as a part of the 10th Annual Ghosts of the Sagebrush Tour.

FRIDAY, August 23, DINNER at the Lee Vining Community Center served at 6 PM, by Linda Dore Catering; $25

  • Program: Augie Hess on Native American trails to Yosemite
  • Re-enactment of 1920s annual Fish Fry celebration of Tioga Pass opening

SATURDAY, August 24, TOUR, 10 to 4; $25

Meet at the Old Schoolhouse Museum on Mattly Avenue. Yosemite speakers and exhbits as we move up the Tioga Road, with stops at:

  • Burgers Retreat
  • Tioga Pass Resort
  • Bennetville trailhead
  • Hwy 120 turnout

Box lunch provided at Burgers Retreat

and $25 for Saturday Tour (includes lunch)
