Event Time:4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Madera County Arts Council is proud to sponsor a juried photography exhibition “A different look at Yosemite’s Treasures.”
The exhibition will take place May 13, 2014 (Tuesday) through May 27, 2014 (Tuesday), with a reception to be held Saturday, May 17, 2014, 4-7 pm.
Entries will be accepted from any California resident (residents under 18 years of age require parental approval). Entrants will be asked to attest that they created the image and that it has NEVER been publicly exhibited. Signed releases will be required for any submissions including recognizable individuals.
Madera County Arts Council recognizes that Yosemite National Park has been a mystical and visual inspiration for generations of visitors and residents. In an 1890 magazine article, John Muir first introduced many Americans to “The Treasures of the Yosemite.” Photography is one of the many ways artists and tourists alike have recorded and shared Yosemite. MCAC anticipates that this themed photography show will encourage local residents and park visitors to look closer at all the wonders of Yosemite – plant, animal, geological, hydrological, architectural, and share their personal vision of Yosemite through photos and a short narrative explanation that includes specifics of image location, equipment, technique (if applicable) and personal meaning/inspiration of the image.
There are no image editing restrictions, as long as the entrant photographed the original image. A modest fee will be charged to cover entry and exhibition costs and each photographer may submit up to 4 entries. Full entry instructions and complete exhibit details will be posted on our website (www.maderaarts.org) by November 2013.
