A GENERATION OF LEADERSHIP - WWII HOMEFRONT

Are You Willing To Sacrifice Your Life For A Cause?

In the 1940's many Americans gave their lives to serve our country during World War II. Far from home, thousands of soldiers died every day, fighting for the principles of our nation: freedom and democracy. As you enter the FDR memorial, you see the statement "This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny..." carved into the wall. This is FDR's description of the men and women who were struggling to survive the Great Depression, but it also describes this same generation who later served during the war. The FDR memorial reminds us of the unique sacrifices this generation made throughout their lives. One striking example of sacrifice by this notable generation is the wartime effort of Americans who served our nation at home.
