Park Hosts New Moon Star Party!

On Saturday, January 8th, at 9:00 pm, Everglades National Park will host a New Moon Star Party event. The park is a perfect spot for viewing the wonders of the night sky due to its location away from the lights of the local communities.

Weather permitting; telescopes will be available for viewing the celestial night sky and will provide an opportunity for visitors to see for themselves what is visible in the world above us. A Ranger guided program about the constellations and the night sky will be available. Bring a flashlight and dress for the weather.

The public is welcome. No advance reservations are necessary.  Since bright headlights impair night vision, we ask that all participants arrive no later than 9:00 pm. The event will be held at Mahogany Hammock, 20 miles from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center.

New Moon Star Parties will also be held on February 5th and March 12th.
