Join Everglades National Park in: “Rolling Towards Restoration, One Tire at a Time!’’ Volunteer Event

Homestead, FL: Over a hundred tires have been illegally dumped near the Chekika District, in the northeastern corner of the Everglades National Park. These abandoned tires are an unsightly feature in the Everglades River of Grass. Come help restore the Everglades in a continuation of the removal and staging of these tires into trailers to be hauled away.

Meet at the Chekika entrance gate at 8:00am on Saturday, July 9, 2011. The early morning will be the most ideal working conditions for removing the tires and any other associated trash. Be prepared for hot, buggy, and humid conditions. Bring plenty of water, snacks and food, and sun protection. We require volunteers to wear closed toe shoes, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts.

All are invited. To volunteer, show up or RSVP to Cerisa Swanberg at (305) 242-7040. Feel free to contact Cerisa if you have questions.
