Emergency Closure of East Cape and Homestead Canals

Everglades National Park Superintendent announced today that the park is closing to two areas in Florida Bay near the Flamingo district of the park effective immediately. These closures are being put in place for public safety while work is being done in the area of these two canals.

East Cape Canal will be closed to the public from the junction of East Cape Canal and the Ingraham Canal to a point 100 feet North of the existing dam at approximate position 25.1380 -81.0663 until further notice.

The Homestead Canal will also be closed to the public from the mouth of the Canal on the Northern shore of Lake Ingraham to a point 100 feet East (upstream) of the existing dam at approximate position 25.1559 -81.0939 until further notice.
