Welcome to 41 years of Everglades Environmental Education.

Education is a primary mission of the park and the Everglades is an amazing classroom. Park rangers, teachers and educators all share the effort to connect students to the park.

Everglades National Park has been partnering with South Florida teachers since April 1971. Local teachers have a variety of opportunities to bring lessons from the Everglades to their students. On this site, educators will find a variety of resources including curriculum materials, guidance on scheduling field trips, details about workshop opportunities, information on inviting a ranger into the local community, materials for loan, and much more.

For more details, see our Environmental Education Brochure (PDF).

White-tailed Deer

Over forty species of mammals inhabit Everglades National Park. Though they often utilize drier habitats, many are also adapted to the semi-aquatic habitats of the Everglades.  White-tailed Deer can often be seen wading through the sawgrass prairies.
