Calling all teachers!

What is the Everglades Mountains and Valleys habitat video series?

Everglades Environmental Education has developed a video series introducing students to 7 habitats of the Everglades Ecosystem-Tropical Hardwood Hammock, Pine Rockland, Sawgrass Prarie, Cypress Dome, Slough, Mangrove, and Florida Bay. The series is designed as a supplemental teaching aid for teachers covering the Everglades ecosystem in their classroom or school groups preparing to come on an Everglades field trip.

Click here to view the series.

What is the contest?
We are looking for teachers to help us expand the video series by developing curriculum-based lesson plans and activities to go along with each of the 7 habitat videos.

The goal is for teachers to be able to use the video series and supplemental lesson plans together.

How to participate?

Send us a lesson plan for one or more of the habitats in the video series. Please indicate which grade level and habitat video your lesson plan supports. Please only use our lesson plan templete. Click here to download the lesson plan template.

Did You Know?

Indigo Snake

Of the 27 species of snakes in Everglades National Park, only four are venomous – the cottonmouth, the diamondback rattlesnake, the dusky pygmy rattlesnake, and the coral snake. The snake to the left is the non-venomous, endangered Indigo Snake.
