Getting to Know Eleanor Roosevelt"
  • HomeSchool groups are welcome
  • Hour & 1/2 hour curriculum-based programs
  • Class Size: 15-50 Students
  • Students will rotate through three teaching stations, (house tour, movie, Stone Cottage activity).
  • Meets NYS Curriculum-Standards: Social Studies: 1, 2, 3, & 5
  • Available Early September - May

*Note: A portion of the program is teacher led.

Students will get to know Eleanor Roosevelt by visiting her Val-Kill home, viewing the playhouse movie and participating in a teacher led activity, "Val-Kill Industries." Students will become detectives to discover what was important to Mrs. Roosevelt by independently looking for, and recording evidence to support various topics, family, photographs, conversation, reading, writing, outdoor activities, gardening/flowers, simplicity/comfort, and visiting guests. At the conclusion students will divide into groups based on their topics to share information and present what they have learned to the entire class.
