  • Junction Cave NOW OPEN!

    Junction Cave is again OPEN for visitation. Get your free caving permit at either the Northwest New Mexico Visitor Center at i-40/Exit 85 in Grants, or at the Information Center on NM53.

Hike out on the Zuni-Acoma Trail to a nearby kipuka called Encerrito. From the summit, take in sweeping views of El Malpais including distant La Ventana Arch. Meet a park ranger at the start time in the parking lot of the Zuni-Acoma Trailhead (18 miles southwest of Grants on NM 53). Bring water, snacks, camera, and binoculars. Wear sturdy hiking boots, pants, hat, and sunscreen.
