The Bureau of Land Management is responsible for managing 272 million acres of public lands nationwide. In northwestern New Mexico it protects world-class archeological sites, unique wildlife habitat, pristine wilderness, and critical riparian areas for public land use and enjoyment. Working in partnership with local tribes and communities, state and federal agencies, public land users, and environmental groups, it promotes shared stewardship of public land to ensure that the resources we enjoy today will be here for future generations.
