| Objective: | The student will be able to identify how prehistoric Native
American Cultures met their basic economic needs of food, clothing, and shelter, and the
technology and methods they used to accomplish those goals. The student will analyze the development of abstract thought in Early American cultures through the analysis of artifacts, burials, art, and attempts to explain the supernatural. The student will be able to identify the major time periods of the prehistory of Southwestern Wisconsin and Northeastern Iowa and the artifacts and cultural features associated with those time periods. |

| Procedure: | Students can complete this activity alone or in small groups. Give each student one of the "Prehistory of Northeast Iowa and Southwest Wisconsin" reading packets and a "Prehistory of Northeast Iowa and Southwest Wisconsin Time Line Selections List." They will have to identify the correct time period in the blanks on the left side of the Time Line Activity sheet and place each time line selection in it’s proper time period. There is no specific order to the items within each time period but, the proper items must be included within each time period. |
