1.0 Predesign (DB)

1.1 Prepare Contextual Analysis (Not Required for Designated Historic Structures and Cultural Landscapes)

Document existing Building Character and Site Character using the Contextual Analysis Template.

1.2 Prepare Project Program

Using the PMIS Project Statement, Facility Planning Model (if applicable), Project Sustainability Application Decision Matrix (pdf) and applicable portions of the NPS Project Sustainability Checklist template as the basis for programming, prepare the Project Program. The Project Program includes a Site Analysis, a Site Program, and an Architectural Program.

 

1.3 Prepare Integrated Design Narrative

Working collaboratively within the integrated design team, complete the Integrated Design Narrative documenting the integrated design process used during the Predesign phase.

1.4 Complete Contextual Analysis Template (When Required)

Document proposed Building and Site Character using the Contextual Analysis Template.

 

1.5 Review Environmental Screening Form

Working collaboratively with park, review the Environmental Screening Form (ESF) to ensure consistency with project program and identify any missing resource data. The ESF will be updated by the National Park Service.

1.6 Complete NPS Project Sustainability Checklist (Predesign Portion)

Working collaboratively within the integrated design team, complete the Predesign portion of the NPS Project Sustainability Checklist and use the Project Sustainability Application Decision Matrix to determine how federal sustainability requirements apply to the project.

1.7 Prepare Class C Construction Cost Estimate

Based on Project Program and NPS Project Sustainability Checklist Requirements prepared above, prepare an independent Class C Construction Cost Estimate using the Class C Construction Cost Estimate Template and Instructions.

1.8 Prepare Scope and Cost Validation Report Documentation

Upon completing the above Predesign work, document all scope and cost variations relative to the PMIS Project Statement and the PMIS Class C Construction Cost Estimate utilizing the Scope and Cost Validation Report Template.

1.9 Predesign Deliverables

1.9.1 Submit Scope and Cost Validation Report Documentation for review

Submit Scope and Cost Validation Report with A/E designated input portions of the Scope and Cost Validation Report completed.

1.9.2 Submit 100% Draft Predesign Documents for review

1.9.3 Resolve 100% Predesign Review Comments and Submit Final Predesign Documents

Resolve all review comments and incorporate resolutions into the Final Predesign Documents. Submit the Final Predesign Documents and written responses to review comments, utilizing the NPS review form, within 15 calendar days of receipt of comments.
