Carol Simpson has been named chief of the Information Management Division for Denver Service Center. Carol began her new position on November 19th.
Carol will lead all aspects of information management for DSC, including information technology, employee development, records management, IT security, FOIA, and the use of MS project, SharePoint, and Documentum for project collaboration and records management. Carol will also oversee the DSC Technical Information Center, library, and printing office.
Carol has served as the DSC Technical Information Center supervisor since 2006, and has worked for DSC for 11 years. Before joining the NPS, Carol worked in private industry at Marathon Oil in their research library and in the academic library arena.
“Carol is an outstanding selection to lead DSC information technology and records management into the future,” said Sam Whittington, DSC’s director. “Carol’s professionalism and collaborative approach will benefit the management of the Denver Service Center.”
Carol grew up visiting the national parks and has counted that she has visited 125 park units. Her favorite is Arches National Park because of the special memories created there with her family.
“I never dreamed I’d be working for the NPS. It is such an honor and a pleasure to work for an organization with such an outstanding mission. The professional and skilled staff are exceptional,” said Carol. “I am excited about the challenges of my new position as we continually enhance our operations with innovative and efficient technological solutions.”
Carol holds a masters of library science from the University of Oregon, and a bachelors degree in anthropology from the University of Utah.
