FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT MEMORIAL

Picture shows the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
Washington, DC

The Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Memorial is the first major national memorial erected to honor a 20th Century President. The memorial is told through a series of four garden rooms. The rooms are defined by walls of Red South Dakota granite, ornamental plantings, waterfalls, and quiet pools of water. Quotations from Roosevelt's speeches adorn bronze sculptures, which are meant to be touched and interact with Braille inscriptions.
