Download and Install Acrobat Reader

Free Acrobat Reader software allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF (Portable Document Format) files across all major computing platforms. PDF files are the de facto standard for the electronic distribution of documents because of their compact size, and because they retain the layout and typography of the original document. Acrobat Reader works as a plug-in with Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer, permitting you to open any Acrobat PDF document right in your Web browser.

Test for Acrobat Reader: Click here to test if Acrobat Reader is already installed on your system. If the document which announces that "Acrobat Reader is installed on your system" does not automatically load into your browser window, you will need to download and install Acrobat Reader.

Install Acrobat Reader: To install the free Acrobat Reader, you will need to:

  1. Download the Acrobat Reader installation program from Adobe Systems (5.6MB). Note the directory name or folder on your computer to which you save this installation program.
  2. Exit your Web browser.
  3. Locate the Acrobat Reader installation program you just downloaded (ar405eng.exe for Win 95/98/NT) and double-click on this file to launch and complete the Acrobat Reader installation.
  4. Re-open your browser and return to the Discovery 2000 Conference website.

Printing from Acrobat Reader: When you print an Acrobat document from within your Web browser, make sure you use the print icon on left end of the Acrobat icon bar that is immediately above the document window. Do not use the browser's own print icon at the top of the browser window. If you get page after page of indecipherable code when you print an Acrobat document, you are using the wrong print icon.
