Directions to the Park
 

New York City NY (George Washington Bridge) ... 70 miles east.
Philadelphia PA (Liberty Bell) ... 90 miles south of the south end of the park. 
Scranton PA (Steamtown NHS) ... 50 miles west.
Pennsylvania Dutch Country ... 120 miles southwest of the south end of the park.

 

To the SOUTH (Water Gap) END of the park/SMITHFIELD BEACH PA
The south end of the park is along Interstate 80 at the village of Delaware Water Gap PA. Take Interstate 80 PA Exit 310 ($.75 toll if westbound from New Jersey.)

If arriving westbound from New Jersey, follow highway signs toward the Park and Ride to the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp, and
• for Smithfield Beach PA points north in the parkalong Route 209 PA, go straight at the traffic light onto River Road. Smithfield Beach is 7 miles from this point.
• for the overlooks on Route 611 at the Water Gap, turn right at the traffic light and continue 1/4 mile to the next light. Turn left onto Route 611 south and look for the overlook parking on the left.

If arriving from points eastbound in Pennsylvania, continue to the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp, and
• for Smithfield Beach PA and points north in the park along Rt. 209 PA, turn left at the traffic light onto River Road. Smithfield Beach is 7 miles from this point.
• for the overlooks on Route 611 at the Water Gap, go straight at the traffic light and continue 1/4 mile to the next light. Turn left onto Route 611 south and look for the overlook parking on the left.

If you are using an on line map program and need an exact address for long-distance directions to the south end of the park, use: 1 Broad Street, Delaware Water Gap PA 18327. This address is in the village of Delaware Water Gap. Use the directions to reach I-80 Exit 310 in Pennsylvania, and then follow directions above.

 

To the NORTH (Milford PA) END of the park/DINGMANS FALLS PA 
From points northeast, north, and northwest, take Interstate 84 to PA Exit 46. Follow Route 6 east 3 miles to a traffic light in Milford PA at the junction of Route 209, and continue straight onto Route 209 south to enter the north end of the park.

If you are using an on line map program and need an exact address for long-distance directions to the north end of the park, use: 209 East Harford Street, Milford PA 18337. This address for the Pike County Chamber of Commerce is on Route 209, 1/4 mile north of the entrance to the park.

 

To the EAST (NJ) SIDE of the park from EAST of the park:
From the east, it is 25 miles from Interstate 80 NJ Exit 34, via NJ Routes 15 north and 206 north and Sussex County 560 west, to Layton NJ, which is 1 mile west of the recreation area. From Layton, it is 2 miles farther along Route 560 west to the bridge at Dingmans Ferry PA, or 2 miles south on Route 640 and 615 to Peters Valley NJ, which is at the junction of Route 615, Route NPS 615, Kuhn Road, and the "Walpack Road" to Dingmans Ferry Bridge.

 

To the WEST (PA) SIDE of the park from WEST of the park:
From the west, PA Route 739 south from Interstate 84 PA Exit 34 reaches Dingmans Ferry PA in 14 miles. For Dingmans Falls Visitor Center (closed in off-season), turn right onto Route 209 south and 1/10 mile later turn right (west) again onto Johnny Bee Road.

Did You Know?
... that the reservoir of the proposed Tocks Island Dam would have inundated 30 miles of the Delaware River and 30,000 acres of its river valley (now part of Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.) The defeat of the dam was an early victory of the environmental movement in this country.
