Some units of the National Park Service system feature world-class recreation opportunities; some feature unique natural and geological resources of unparalleled value; some others are built around people, places or times that are deeply significant to the cultural fabric and heritage of the United States of America.

Few parks, though, can offer all three. This makes Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area a favorite destination for millions of visitors each year. The cultural sites listed on this page may be visited year-round, but tours of the interiors may only be available during special events. To start planning your visit to one of the park's many fascinating cultural sites, choose one of the links below.

Millbrook Village is a re-creation of a nineteenth century farming village built at the crossroads of what were once major highways.
Hours and Seasons: The village is staffed on summer weekends and during special events by costumed rangers and volunteers. The village comes alive during the first full weekend in October for the annual Millbrook Days Festival, when costumed volunteers demonstrate the crafts and skills involved in living in a rural nineteenth century America village. This and other annual events, like Maple Sugaring in March, or Octivities in October, will be announced on the Programs and Special Events Schedule page.

... that the Middle Delaware River exceeds ordinary federal standards for clean water. Because of this, special higher standards have been set for the river, so it does not "deteriorate" to being just "clean enough." The river in this park is, and will remain, truly "cleaner than clean." More...
