BUSHKILL, PA: Superintendent John J. Donahue has announced that starting on Monday, February 6, U.S. 209 will be closed to all traffic from the Raymondskill Bridge at Milepost 18, south to Milepost 14.8. The closure is necessary to accommodate rehabilitation and reconstruction of the bridge over Raymondskill Creek. The work will include deck replacement, wing walls repairs, and armoring of bridge abutments with rocks to prevent erosion. The project is expected to be completed in the summer. U.S. 209 will be open for recreational use from the north end of the park to Raymondskill Bridge and from PA 739 to Milepost 14.8. Raymondskill Road will also remain open. Planning and design for the rehabilitation of the Raymondskill Bridge began two years ago. It is one of many ongoing road and bridge improvements being made throughout Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The Federal Highway Administration is managing the project. |
