Bushkill, PA- Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Superintendent John J. Donahue announced today that the installation of three long- awaited trail bridges in the park will begin on December 15th. The project was awarded to Ocean Construction of Linwood, NJ, and includes a new bridge over Adams Creek just south of the Adams Creek Trailhead on Route 209; a new bridge over Dingmans Creek on the Childs Park Loop Trail; and a bridge at Dry Brook, just south of the Conashaugh Trailhead for the McDade Trail. “The installation of these bridges will provide visitors with improved access and safety in these popular areas,” said Donahue.

This project is part of an emergency trail repair project from Hurricane Irene. Depending on favorable weather conditions, the project should be completed by mid- to late-January. Motorists should expect minor delays due to heavy equipment maneuvering in the area. To ensure the safety of visitors and workers these sites will be temporarily closed to the public during construction.
