Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Superintendent John J. Donahue announced today that the Black Bear Century Bike Ride will be held in the park on Saturday, October 11, 2014. "The park provides participants with the unique opportunity to ride along beautiful country roads, past old homesteads and fields, along the river, and at the edge of forests during one of the most enjoyable times of the year," commented Donahue. He added that while no roads will be closed for this event, both motorists and cyclists are asked to be cautious and to be observant of one another while sharing the roads.

The event will begin outside of the park in Smithfield Township, PA. A large portion of the ride will take place on Old Mine Road on the New Jersey side of the park. For more information about the Black Bear Century Ride, contact event organizers at www.scampnrascal.com.
