 The Adventure Guide for Teens is a 16-page color booklet that introduces youth to the Appalachian Trail within this park. Topics include plate tectonics and the formation of the Appalachian chain, planning a day-hike, "leave-no-trace" backpacking, wildlife, and the reflections of a "thru-hiker." Those who complete and turn in the booklet earn an Appalachian Trail patch and junior ranger rocker. (left)

2. Return the completed booklet to a visitor center to check your answers with a ranger and to get your patch and rocker.

Did You Know?
... that in the 1750s, the northwest border of New Jersey (now Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area) was a frontier of the English colonies. In the French & Indian (Seven Years) War, a string of forts protected these settlements. The sites of seven of these outposts are in the park.
