Death Valley NP to Host Star Party

Death Valley National Park will host a Star Party on Saturday, February 25th, 2012 as part of Death Valley National Park's Dark Night Sky series. The event will run from 7:00pm to 9:30pm at the Harmony Borax Works, about a mile north of the Furnace Creek Ranch on Highway 190. Two night sky tours will be presented, one at 7:30pm and again at 8:30pm. Like all ranger programs, the event is free of charge to all park visitors.

The program will consist of night sky viewing through telescopes.NPS Rangers will point out constellations and explain celestial phenomena in easy to understand language.Visitors can come and go throughout the evening as they would like.

Come enjoy the crystal clear desert skies in Death Valley National Park...a rare treasure. Wear warm clothes and bring a red lens or cellophane to cover your flashlight and protect your night vision from bright lights.
