Take a park outing on Wednesday, August 13th to hear Gloria Runs Close To Lodge-Goggles share traditional stories learned from her grandfather about Devils Tower and the surrounding area. This exciting and engaging presentation presents listeners the opportunity to interact and gain a better understanding of Native American stories, oral traditions and humor. This program begins at 8:00 p.m. in the Devils Tower amphitheatre.

On Thursday, August 14th at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m., Gloria will share her knowledge of plants and their traditional and present day uses by native peoples of the plains. A number of plant samples will be on display. These programs will take place near the visitor center.

Gloria Runs Close To Lodge-Goggles is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Nation originally from Pine Ridge, South Dakota. She currently resides in Ethete, Wyoming on the Wind River Reservation. Gloria is employed by Wyoming Indian High School, where she is a cultural mentor and traditional crafts instructor. A member of the Wyoming Native American Advisory Council, Gloria has presented at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming, and at the Indian Summer Festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In addition, she has presented cultural demonstrations in France and Sweden. A strong supporter of multicultural education, Gloria enjoys sharing aspects of her culture with others, and encourages her native students to learn more about their traditions and heritage.
