The Devils Tower Natural History Association (DTNHA) has been awarded a $1,000.00 grant from the Unrestricted Endowment held by the Wyoming Community Foundation (WYCF) to fund the last element of the Devils Tower Centennial: distribution of Standing Witness: Devils Tower National Monument, A History by Jeanne Rogers.
Devils Tower Natural History Association is a non-profit organization [501 (c ) (3)] dedicated to promoting understanding and conservation of the natural, cultural, and historical resources of Devils Tower National Monument through education, public information, and service. Chartered by Congress, cooperating associations like DTNHA work hand-in-hand with the National Park Service (NPS) and other federal agencies. Along with the NPS, DTNHA through its Centennial Committee helped to coordinate the five celebrations in 2006 that commemorated the centennial of the park.
The WYCF grant will be used to help distribute a limited number of complimentary copies of the monumental history book, Standing Witness: Devils Tower National Monument, A History, which was commissioned by the NPS for the Centennial.
Standing Witness will be officially released on May 11, 2008, at a special book signing event from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center at Devils Tower National Monument.
“We are so pleased to have the opportunity to get Jeanne’s book out to those who have been anxiously anticipating its release. Our thanks go out to the WYCF for their generous donation toward our efforts,” stated Linda Tokarczyk, DTNHA Business Manager.
