On Tuesday, July 15th and Wednesday, July 16th in the area at the base of Devils Tower, David Osmundsen will be demonstrating the art of historic blacksmithing. David’s blacksmithing passion began in 1976 when he kindled his first forge fire in Colorado. He learned the art from Slim Spurling in exchange for working in the shop. In 1994, after operating his own forge in Maine where he made hand-forged napkin rings for First Lady Rosalyn Carter, David moved to Buffalo, Wyoming and reopened his Arrowhead Forge. David shows the art of blacksmithing in demonstrations and workshops and has a portable forge shop made up of historical equipment.

David’s demonstrations will be held July 15th and 16th from 10:00am-12:00pm, 1:00-2:00pm and 3:00-5:00pm both days.

There is no charge for the programs but there is an entrance fee of $10/vehicle into the monument. For more information, contact the Devils Tower Visitor Center at 307-467-5283 ext. 635.
