Devils Tower To Host A Winter Bird Count
Devils Tower National Monument will host a Winter Bird Count on Friday, December 18, 2015 from 8 am to 4 pm. All levels of birding experience are welcome, and participants do not need to come for the entire day.

Chronic Wasting Disease Detected at Devils Tower
National Park Service (NPS) veterinarians recently confirmed the presence of chronic wasting disease (CWD) in a buck white-tailed deer at Devils Tower National Monument. CWD is endemic to free-ranging deer populations throughout much of eastern Wyoming, and although this is the first animal to test positive for CWD at Devils Tower, it is not the first case in Crook County. That case was detected only a few miles away, in 2008.

Devils Tower National Monument invites all 4th grade students to visit the park for free as part of the White House’s new Every Kid in a Park program. Fourth grade students can go to www.everykidinapark.gov to complete an activity and obtain a free annual entry pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including national park sites.

Devils Tower to Host a Celebration of the Rich Culture and Heritage of the American Cowboy
- Come and celebrate the lifeways of rural America by creating the "campfire" which everyone can come and share in the appreciation of the culture and traditions unique to the Black Hills. The Cowboy Poetry Festival kicks off Sunday, September 6 at 1:00 pm with Robert Dennis, Paul Larsen and Don Hewlit. Each cowboy brings their own unique western experiences to life every time they take the stage and present cowboy culture.

Tularemia Detected in Prairie Dogs

The festivities will begin at 12:30 pm in the picnic area at Devils Tower National Monument. There will be free entrance into the monument for those attending the event.

Climbing Routes Temporary Closed To Protect Prairie Falcons
Devils Tower National Monument has temporarily closed climbing routes along the northeast face of Devils Tower beginning April 26th in order to protect Prairie Falcon (Falco mexicanus) possible nesting sites. This closure is an annual event established under the monument's 1995 Climbing Management Plan with authority from the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. On the northeast face, routes between and including "Belle Fourche Buttress" and "Maid in the Shaid" (routes #68 to #93), as well as the "North Face" rappel route, will be closed.
